Wine is one of the rare beverages that represents the sense of place. The French said it best with the word terrior, which is now synonymous with wine. When you hear terrior driven wines, you expect there to be nuance, complexity, and familiarity to the region it comes from. The best examples highlight the importance of the vineyard sites and the hallowed ground it is grow on.
In this series, we will be exploring wines that grow on different soil types. This edition, we will be tasting through wines with vineyards located on chalk, whether it be top or sub soil, and what better region to taste chalk than in Champagne. It also gives us an excuse to drink Champagne!
We will be tasting through 6 selected bubbles with, of course, the 6th being blind. There will also be light fare to snack on and coffee and tea to finish off the tasting.
We look forward to sharing these beautiful wines with you!
Cheers!
